Third Winnebago County nursing home reports COVID cases

New cases of COVID-19 are on a downward trend in Winnebago County, but a third nursing home in the county is now reporting positive cases.

The Lake Mills Care Center reports they’ve had four positive cases at their facility, with two of those having recovered as of Monday, Oct. 5. Both Good Samaritan Society in Forest City and Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center have previously reported outbreaks of the illness.

Timely Mission reported last Friday that one additional resident there tested positive for COVID-19, and 28 of the 36 cases at the nursing home are now resolved.

According to the Iowa Dept. of Public Health, there were 346 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county as of Monday, Oct. 5, with 15 new positive cases since September 29. Of those cases, 207 are listed as recovered, but Winnebago County has also seen 14 deaths related to the illness.

Kossuth County reported 325 positive cases as of Monday, with 148 cases recovered and no deaths reported. No outbreaks at long term care facilities have been reported in Kossuth County.
