More COVID-19 deaths in the area

Winnebago and Kossuth Counties each reported two additional deaths related to COVID-19 over the past week, as the death toll reached 25 in Winnebago County and nine in Kossuth County as of Monday, Dec. 7.

The illness continues to circulate at a rapid rate in Kossuth County, which saw 161 additional cases between December 1-7. The total case as of Monday was 1,237, with 591 active cases.

New cases in Winnebago County remain lower than the peak in mid-November, with 54 new cases reported over the past week. There were 986 total cases in the county as of Monday, and active cases fell to 346, which is about 50 fewer active cases than the week before.
