Local positivity rates increase for COVID-19

Winnebago County saw an increase in COVID-19 activity during the first week of the new year, with 49 new cases reported in the county between Tuesday, Jan. 5 and Monday, Jan. 11. The seven-day positivity rate in the county was 14%, while the 14-day rate was 15%. A total of 1,157 cases have been identified in the county, and there were 144 active cases as of Monday. One additional death linked to the illness was also recorded last week, bringing the total to 29.

New cases were down last week in Kossuth County, but 76 positive tests were recorded. The seven-day positivity rate in the county was 17%, and the 14-day rate was 18%. There have been 1,644 positive cases identified in Kossuth County since the pandemic began, and there were 230 active cases as of Monday. Three additional deaths were reported over the past week, for a total of 35.
