Diana Kramersmeier

Diana smiles. She wears gold glasses and two gold chains around her neck, one with a cross, and a blue sweater.

Diana Kramersmeier of Buffalo Center, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the young age of 76 at Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines. The treasured life of Diana Kramersmeier was celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. around the gazebo at 1st Reformed Church in Buffalo Center.

Diana Cindy (Adams) Kramersmeier was born May 4, 1944 in Albert Lea, MN, the daughter of LeRoy and Virginia (Larson) Adams. Her family lived near Crystal Lake in her early years and later moved to Thompson, where she attended school; graduating in 1962 with dear friends she still enjoyed getting together with.

Dale loves to laugh about how they met at the Thompson Roller Skating rink, where Diana worked at the candy counter. “Hot Wheels” Kramersmeier asked a young man (Doug), “Who’s that cute girl at the candy counter?” and got the response “Oh geez, that’s my sister!” The romance blossomed, and on Jan. 26, 1963 Diana went from town girl to right-hand farm wife, and the adventures began. Such as the time when Diana gave Dale a ‘40 mph tractor ride’ from one farm to another. Dale was signaling to WHOA and Diana thought he was signaling to GO. Together they not only raised two children but also cattle, hogs and crops. In addition to all this, she was lead-lady at Green Giant, worked for Mr. Ks catering and clerked for Sapp and Hallberg Auction Companies. A lifelong commitment to her faith included teaching Sunday School, Bible School, youth group leader, Esther and Sarah Circles, Chancel Choir, Ladies Trio, elder, deacon and ‘Basement Ladies’.

Diana loved Christmas. Many in town remember her annual light display across the entire farm and many lessons were taught and learned on how to test, change lights, bulbs and decorations. After moving to town in 2016, she kept up her Christmas spirit by sewing teddy bears for OCC and accompanying Santa with his visits to surrounding communities.

Town living also brought enjoyment of quiet nights sipping wine on the porch, slow cruises on the Ranger, tractor rides and a new holiday to enjoy, Halloween, where she could spoil more kids with candy.

Diana was passionate about supporting her grandkids in all their activities, which included church and school programs and traveling great distances for ball games, track meets and rodeos. She enjoyed inviting family and friends to share in her and Dale’s hobbies of tractor rides and antique toys.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 57 years, Dale; two children: Peggy (Kerry) Mastin and Brian (Jenny) Kramersmeier, Buffalo Center; five grandchildren: Nick (Megan) Monsen, Mitch (LeeAnn) Mastin, Buffalo Center, Laura Mastin of Fayetteville, NC and Leah and Jamison Kramersmeier, Buffalo Center; two great-grandchildren: Kylie and Malia Mastin, Buffalo Center; siblings: Daryl (Bev) Adams, Buffalo Center, Darwin Adams, Thompson, Douglas (Harriet) Adams, Otho, Denise (Mike) Eenhuis, Chapman, KS; sisters-in-law: LaVonne (Foster) Hartman, Lake Mills, Marlys Kramersmeier, Apple Valley, MN, Helen (Dave) Smidt, Spirit Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents: LeRoy and Virginia Adams; step-father, Hugh Neeley; sister, Donna Swalve, infant brother, Devere Adams; parents-in-law: Albert and Laura Kramersmeier; sister-in-law, Thelma Adams; and brother-in-law, Lewis Swalve.
