  • North Iowa High School will send three runners to the State Cross Country Championships in Fort Dodge on Saturday, Nov. 2, after Lauren Hillesland, Gavin Grunhovd, and Jayden Grunhovd all qualified individually during last Thursday’s qualifier meet held at Manly. Gavin, pictured at right, took first place in the boys’ meet to earn his fourth trip to State, while Hillesland, at left, placed sixth to earn a place at State for her third year in a row. Jayden, center, is a first-time State qualifier, after taking 11th place in the qualifier meet.

  • Mariah Roth held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Oct. 9, to mark the opening of the little library she built and installed at South Park in Buffalo Center. Helping her celebrate the completion of the library were members of the Buffalo Center City Council, the community, and Mariah’s family.
