Humboldt head football coach Derrick Elman, who has compiled a won-loss record of 26-7 over the last three seasons, was recently named Class 3A Regional Coach of the Year.
Elman shared the award with North Polk coach Tim Tebrink. It is the third consecutive year Elman has received the regional award in 3A.
Elman, who completed his fifth season as head coach of the Wildcats, guided Humboldt to the 3A District 2 title for the second straight year and led Humboldt to the semifinals of the state playoffs for the second straight year.
