  • North Iowa Community Schools have seen dramatic growth over the past three years on the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP). The district set a goal for at least 70% of students to be proficient in ELA and math by 2025, and students surpassed that goal in both categories ahead of schedule this year.

  • Marlyn and Ruth Hassebroek are passing their family business, Hassebroek Refrigeration & Appliances, onto their son Mike and his wife, Connie, after 49 years of business in Buffalo Center. Mike has worked alongside his parents all those years, while Connie has been working in the office since January. From left are: Connie, Mike, Marlyn, and Ruth Hassebroek. The community came out to help Marlyn and Ruth celebrate their retirement during an open house on Thursday, May 16, which was also Marlyn’s 85th birthday.
