Funeral services for Leone Nadine Milbrandt, 99, were held Friday, May 17 at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center. Interment was at Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center. Leone passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

Leone Nadine Milbrandt was born October 17, 1924 at Park Hospital in Mason City, the daughter of Arthur F. and Mary (Sorensen) Eibey. She grew up living on farms north of Ventura and later north of Clear Lake. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1942. The country was at war, so she and her sister decided to seek employment at Glenn L. Martin defense plant at nearby Ft. Crook, Nebraska, making B26 and later B29 airplanes. In 1945, after the war, Leone was employed by Woodman Circle Insurance Co. in Omaha, Nebraska. She returned to the Mason City area in the spring of 1947, where she was employed by Standard Oil Company in Mason City until 1950.

Leone married Clarence D. Milbrandt on August 5, 1950, at the Methodist Church in Clear Lake. They established their home on a farm eight miles south of Buffalo Center, where they raised their family of three children. After the untimely death of Clarence in 1974, Leone continued to live on the farm where the children finished school. In 2014, she moved to Forest Plaza in Forest City and was there for nine years. She had recently moved to the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, in need of more care.

Leone was active in the Congregational Women’s fellowship, taught Bible and Sunday School and served as the church treasurer for 10 years. She was a member of the Grant Neighborly Birthday group. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and traveling on bus trips to many scenic places in the U.S. and Canada.

Leone is survived by her children: Elaine (Stephen) Cornish; David (Ruth Ann) Milbrandt; Debra (Mark) Nelson; 10 grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Milbrandt, her parents, Arthur and Mary Eibey and sister, Lenita (Eibey) Houdek
