It felt almost like spring had arrived in northern Iowa during the last week of January – before the groundhog even got a chance to look for its shadow on Sunday, Feb. 2. A group of North Iowa fifth grade students took advantage of the nice weather on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 30, when they went around Buffalo Center cleaning up trash as the temperature peaked around 60 degrees. New record highs were recorded around the region during a welcome reprieve from bitterly cold temperatures earlier in the month.
