Wirth to preside over Homecoming Parade

One of the very first graduates of North Iowa High School will serve as Grand Marshal for the 2014 North Iowa Homecoming Parade this Friday.

Jason Wirth of Thompson was a member of the first graduating class at North Iowa in 1990, following the consolidation of the school district. A native of Thompson, he started Jake’s Sweet Corn as an FFA project while he was still in school. He went on to graduate from Iowa State University before returning to Thompson.

Jake’s Sweet Corn will enter its 30th year of business next year, and Jason has worked with scores of local high school and college students over the years, who help him hand pick the corn, which is sold throughout the area. He says he employs about 20-25 kids each summer.
