Winnebago County Relay for Life this Saturday

     “Paint Your World Purple” at the 2016 Winnebago County Relay for Life, scheduled for this Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the courthouse square in Forest City. The local Relay is supported by 21 teams, including many who will walk on Saturday and “virtual” teams that contribute to the local fundraising effort for the American Cancer Society.

     The Relay will feature food and local entertainers throughout the day, as well as a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. New this year is a dunk tank, sponsored by the Pink Warriors of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center. The Lake Mills Triple S dancers and tumblers, as well as the Lake Mills Drum Line are all new additions to the entertainment this year.

     The opening ceremony will be held at 4 p.m., and a survivors ceremony will be held at 6:15 p.m. The luminaria ceremony is at 8:30 p.m., followed by the 5K Glow Run/Walk at 9 p.m. The 5K has been held in the mornings in the past, and the route will be different this year.

     The Relay will conclude with fireworks at 10 p.m.
