Weaver to preside as Quasqui Grand Marshal

Buffalo Center native LeRoy Weaver will preside as Grand Marshal over the Quasquicentennial parade this Saturday morning, July 1, as the community’s 125th birthday celebration gets underway.

LeRoy is well known throughout the area as the longtime proprietor of Weaver’s Leather Store, which was started by his father, Ted A. Weaver in 1925. LeRoy started helping out at the store as a teenager, and he took over the business at the age of 19 when his father passed away in 1950.

Aside from two years spent serving his country in the Korean War, LeRoy has continued his work at the store ever since. His wife, Helen, and two children, Audrey and Tim, all helped out at the store, with Tim continuing the family tradition by taking up a full-time career at the shop.

Today, Weaver’s Leather Store is Buffalo Center’s oldest family-owned business, and it’s poised to hold that title for many years to come. The fourth generation of the Weaver family is now working at the store, as Tim and Julie’s sons, Tanner and Colin, have both decided to continue the family business.

LeRoy will greet the community during Saturday’s parade, which begins at 10 a.m. A map of the parade route can be found in Section B of this week’s edition, and Quasquicentennial schedules featuring maps can also be found at several businesses.
