Vote in Tuesday’s school election

Four seats on the North Iowa School Board are up for election next Tuesday, Sept. 12, when voters will also be asked to decide on a ballot measure for a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) for the school district.

Three current school board members are seeking reelection, including Mark Ostermann in District 1, John Helland in District 3, and Rachel Wubben, at-large. Emily Angstman is running for the remaining at-large seat, currently held by Renae Sachs, who did not file for reelection.

With just four candidates seeking four seats, perhaps the bigger decision for voters will be whether to support the proposed tax levy. The school is seeking the PPEL to generate about $400,000 a year for 10 years, which would pay for things like building renovations, new technology and transportation needs.
