Three seniors take softball All-Conference honors

     All three seniors on the 2014 Lady Bison softball team were selected for post-season honors by the coaches of the North Iowa Conference. Rachel Boekelman was named to the First Team All-Conference, Paige Hassebroek was named to the Second Team All-Conference, and Jenna Koppen received Honorable Mention.

     Rachel Boekelman led the Lady Bison this season in nearly every offensive stat recorded. She had the team’s top batting average of .431, and she also led with 22 hits, 16 stolen bases and 18 runs. She added four doubles, one triple, and one home run in 51 total conference at bats. 

     Boekelman also made the All-District team, was named to the Honorable Mention All-State team, and was recognized by the Globe Gazette as one of the many top softball performers in the area.

     Paige Hassebroek started 12 conference games as pitcher this season, finishing with a 4.44 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 77 1/3 innings of work. On offense, she competed with Boekelman for top honors in many categories. She batted .392 in conference play, with a team-leading 12 RBIs and two home runs. She collected 20 hits on the year in 51 plate appearances.

     Jenna Koppen had a .415 batting average in conference action, and she collected 17 hits, stole 13 bases, scored 10 runs, and drove in seven runs in 41 plate appearances.
