Summer food program off to good start
Free summer meal service kicked off last week at North Iowa Community Schools, where all kids ages 1-18 are invited to eat breakfast and lunch on Monday through Friday. Laura Sunde, left, head cook for the summer program, serves up pizza on Friday. She says they’ve had a good turnout, with about 100 kids eating lunch each day that summer school was in session during the week.
The meals are free for all kids – whether they’re from the school district or just here visiting. Adults can eat too at a rate of $1.75 for breakfast and $3.50 for lunch. The menu can be found each week in the Tribune.
