School names new elementary/middle school principal

The North Iowa Community School District is pleased to announce that Shawn Miller has been selected as the new Elementary/Middle School Principal. She will lead students, grades Pre-K to six, pending board confirmation, beginning July 1.

Miller replaces Jill Schutjer, who is pursuing an administrative opportunity in another district.

“Shawn is a well-rounded educator with experience at all levels and in many areas,” said Superintendent Joe Erickson. “She is passionate about education, committed to student success and wholeheartedly believes in working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents and community members to educate children. She will help us further our mission to build better Bison.”

Miller, who has more than 20 years of experience in education, comes to the North Iowa Community School District after spending the last 12 years in the Forest City Community School District. She currently serves as a K-12 instructional coach, provides elementary administrative support and is an English Language Leaning (ELL) coordinator and family liaison.
