Rygh receives Friend of the School Award

The North Iowa track team held a special recognition for longtime volunteer coach Ronald Rygh during last Thursday’s Bison Relays, as Rygh received the Friend of the School Award.

This annual award is sponsored by the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), and it allows schools to honor individuals who support school activities in their district and enjoy working on behalf of students.

Rygh has served as a volunteer coach for the boys’ and girls’ track programs at North Iowa for more than 18 years.

“He has been an exceptional community resource that has helped hundreds of young people find success in not only track and field but life,” said Jonathan Potter, head track coach at North Iowa. “His passion is the hurdles, but he is quite a resource for kids and coaches in nearly every event."
