Runners travel to Belmond for second meet

The North Iowa cross country teams had a hot day for their second meet of the season last week, as they competed in the Belmond Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 10

“Despite high heat and humidity, the kids came out in their second meet of the season and gave solid effort,” said Head Coach Jonathan Potter. The junior high teams each had one medalist in their first two-mile races of the season, with Rebecca Hofmann taking second place in the girls’ race and Gavin Grunhovd placing third among the boys.

In the varsity girls’ race, Danessa Bruner led the way with her 22nd place finish. “She has improved dramatically as a racer from last season – willing to push early and put herself in the mix,” said Coach Potter.
