Rose Levik

Rose M. Levik, 94, died August 5, 2025, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home at Buffalo Center. Funeral services for Rose were held on Saturday, August 9 at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center. Burial was held in Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center.

Rose was the daughter of Arthur Glen and Clara (Gulden) Folz. She was born on March 6, 1931, on a farm in Manyaska Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She had four sisters, Evelyn Cook, Ruth Landin, Margaret Kummrow, and Clarice Berg. She was raised in the Welcome/Sherburn Minnesota area. She graduated from the Sherburn High School in 1949.

While driving around Sherburn with her sister Margaret, she met Chunk Levik. They were married on October 8, 1949, and were blessed with 75 years of marriage and one daughter, Linda. The family enjoyed many trips traveling throughout the United States and Canada. Chunk and Rose also traveled to Norway, where they met Chunk’s many relatives. They also had an extended trip traveling mainland Europe.

Rose’s greatest legacy to her family was her love of books and learning. She served many years on the Buffalo Center Library Board. Her lifelong learning experiences included classes in Spanish, Norwegian, German, woodcarving, and painting. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and gardening. Hostas and lilies were favorites of hers. During the holidays, she enjoyed baking lefse, kringla, krumkake, and other Scandinavian treats.

Rose took her right to vote seriously and served many years registering voters at the polls on election days.

Rose was a member of the United Methdodist Church in Buffalo Center. She was a member of the ladies’ circles and co-chair of the funeral committee that provided meals for families and friends after funerals. She was a member of several Bible studies.

Rose was a good friend who was trustworthy, yet she enjoyed a good joke. She spent many hours with her coffee friends – Sandy, Marcy, Deanne, Betty, Eva, Joyce, and Velma.

Rose felt truly blessed to be a large part of the lives of her grandsons, Jonathan, Andrew and Ryan, as well as the lives of her older great grandkids: Jackson, Isla, Simon, and Fiona. The door to her house was always open for all of them, and they all held Rose dear in their hearts. And needless to say, the four youngest great grandkids greatly lifted Rose’s spirit the last couple of years when they visited her at the Timely Mission Nursing Home.

 She is survived by her daughter, Linda, and her husband, Rick. She is also survived by three grandsons: Jonathan Potter and his wife, Carrie; Andrew Potter and his wife, Sarah; and Ryan Potter and his wife, Katherine. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jackson Potter, Isla Potter, Simon Potter, Fiona Potter, Liam Potter, Griffin Potter, Juliette Potter, and Quinn Potter. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
