Quasqui Committee receives artwork proceeds

The Buffalo Center Quasquicentennial Committee has an additional $795 to spend on a project for the community, thanks to sales of the limited-edition Quasquicentennial prints. Artist J.D. Speltz presented committee chairperson Betty Davids with a check, which accounts for the committee’s share of proceeds from the sale of 93 prints.

The committee previously brought in about $1,000 from auctioning off items relating to the prints, including the original oil painting.

Davids says the Quasquicentennial Committee will meet later this month to decide on how to spend the remaining money from their fundraising efforts. She says they have about $12,000 left over after paying all the bills. The committee has already purchased lighting for the Quasquicentennial mural at the library, which will be installed this spring. Davids says she’d like to use the remaining money for a single project in town, and they may write grants if they need a little more money.
