North Iowa competes at state track and field

     North Iowa athletes turned in strong performances as they competed in the state track meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines on May 19 and 20. The boys competed in two individual events, while the girls sent two relays to state.

     Double individual qualifier Alex Paulson was the top finisher for North Iowa, as he placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of 48’4” and 11th in the discus with a throw of 146’7”. The girls’ shuttle hurdle relay team of Rachel Hassebroek, Krista Schutter, Mariah Richter and Sydney Main took 18th place with a time of 1:13.10, and the 4x800 relay team of Kendall Melz, Rachel Schutter, Brooke Hovland and Megan Davis placed 19th with a time of 10:37.23.
