North Iowa athletes qualify four events for State Track and Field

     The North Iowa Bison and Lady Bison are headed to Drake Stadium in Des Moines this week for the State Track and Field competition, after qualifying four events for state last Thursday at Northwood-Kensett. Those moving on include double qualifier Alex Paulson, who advanced in both the discus and the shot put, as well as the girls’ 4x800 and shuttle hurdle relay teams.

     Paulson placed second in the discus and third in the shot put at Northwood. The 4x800 relay team of Kendall Melz, Rachel Schutter, Brooke Hovland and Megan Davis took second place at Northwood to qualify for state, and the shuttle hurdle relay, made up of Rachel Hassebroek, Krista Schutter, Mariah Richter and Sydney Main, placed fourth but qualified by time.
