New tornado sirens in place

     Buffalo Center’s two new tornado sirens will soon be operational, as the sirens were installed on their poles last week. The 129 decibel sirens are located at Lions Park and South Park and are each estimated to have a range of 5,000 feet. The sirens were installed by Brad Stohr Electric and Ag Advantage Systems of Thompson.

     The City of Buffalo Center received grant money for the sirens from the USDA and Winnebago County Community Foundation, and the Buffalo Center Ambulance also raised money for the project. Mayor Troy Armstrong says they hope to have the sirens operational within a month.
