New police officer on patrol in Buffalo Center

The City of Buffalo Center has a police officer once again, as Dustin Buck of Forest City started on the job last Wednesday, Jan. 22. Buck will work part-time with the Buffalo Center Police Department, while the City will also receive 24-hour law enforcement coverage from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.

Buck is a part-time officer for the Forest City Police Dept., as well, and he previously served for seven years with the Mason City Police Dept. He worked six years on patrol at Mason City, plus one year as an investigator with the department’s drug task force. For the past six years, he has been a stay at home dad.

In his work with the Forest City Police Dept., Buck does grant writing and oversees the department’s 1033 program, which allows them to acquire excess equipment from the federal government.
