American Legion Post 21 has a new drop box at their headquarters in Buffalo Center, where people can turn in their worn or damaged American flags for retirement.

The box was donated to the Legion by the Britt Public Library, which previously used it as a book return. The Legion got in touch with the Britt library after hearing about the possibility from Buffalo Center Librarian Sharon Hippen. The Legion hired Bison Graphics & Awards to put graphics on the box, and DeVries Lumber donated materials for installation.

People can drop off flags at any time of year, and the Legion holds its annual flag retirement ceremony each September.
