Meinders takes over as Bison coach

The North Iowa Bison baseball team has a new head coach, as Zach Meinders takes the helm of the program. Meinders previously served as assistant coach during the 2014 season, and he also serves as coach for the Lakota boys’ little league program.

Meinders is assisted by Steven Milbrandt, who is a 2016 graduate of North Iowa High School and a veteran of the Bison baseball program.

Meinders replaces previous head coach Blake Baker. North Iowa Supt. Cory Myer explains that the abrupt change of head coach in the second week of the season comes following some issues with the baseball program. “We had some conversations about what was in the best interest of the program moving forward, and [Baker] decided to resign,” said Myer.

Myer says Meinders had previously applied for the head baseball coaching position, and the school offered him the job, which he accepted.
