Meat & Music Spectacular gets its own mascot

North Iowa Betterment is hard at work preparing for the first annual Meat & Music Spectacular on Saturday, August 1 on Main Street in Buffalo Center, and several new features have been added to the event in recent weeks.

New additions include “Bo Dean”, a life-size aluminum pig who will serve as the mascot for the event. Beth Matheson, Director of North Iowa Betterment, says she and a few other people were headed to Redwood Falls, MN on July 11 to check out another barbecue event, when they spotted the metal pig at a market along the road. They decided it was perfect for the Spectacular, and Kuchenbecker Excavating covered the expense. Matheson says Bo Dean should make for a good photo opportunity during the event.

Another recent addition to the August 1 event is music by Steve Lang & Bob, who will perform continuous classic country from 1-4 p.m. There are also some new food offerings, including Mr. Taco from 6-11 p.m. during the evening dance and a mini donut stand.
