Local COVID-19 numbers continue to decline

A downward trend continues for COVID-19 activity in Winnebago and Kossuth counties, as fewer new cases were reported again last week.

Just 16 new cases were reported in Winnebago County between Tuesday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 28, for a total of 1,090, and the number of active cases in the county fell to 174. The seven-day positivity rate was 6%, while the 14-day positivity rate was 12%. There were no new deaths reported in the county last week in relation to COVID-19.

In Kossuth County, the number of new cases reported over the past week was 32, and the number of active cases fell to 384. There were, however, three new deaths reported in Kossuth County. The seven-day positivity rate in the county was 14%, and the 14-day positivity rate was 16%.
