Lakota Library gets grant for software upgrades

The Lakota Public Library is the recipient of $650 in grants from WCTA and Aureon that will allow the library to update its computer software. Representatives from WCTA and Aureon presented two checks to members of the Lakota Library Board and Library Director Sue Kearney last Monday, Feb. 17. The library is in the process of updating the computers used by patrons to the latest version of Windows.

The Lakota Library is celebrating its 100th birthday this year, and the Library Board plans to hold a party in the fall. Board member Janet Chambers says they try to keep everything as up-to-date as they can at the library. The Board just wrote a new three-year plan for the library listing goals and procedures, and they’re currently working on writing grants to replace the carpet.
