Indians advance five to District tournament

Chris Barragy | Mid-America Publishing Kellen Moore won a 4-2 decision over Clear Lake’s Max Currier to win the 113 pound bracket at Saturday’s Sectional tournament in Clear Lake.

Five members of the Forest City wrestling team will compete for a shot at the State tournament this weekend, as they wrestle in the Class 2A District 1 tournament in Algona on Saturday, Feb. 15.

The five wrestlers placed in the top two at last Saturday’s Sectional tournament in Clear Lake to earn a spot in the next round.

First place finishers at Sectionals include Austin Kelso (285), Reese Moore (182), Kristian Gunderson (152), and Kellen Moore (113). Advancing with a second place finish is Brock Moore (120).

Sectional Results

106-Robay Birri (21-29) placed 4th and scored 11 team points.

Quarterfinal-Birri won by fall over Marcus Skidmore (Clear Lake) (Fall 1:55). Semifinal-Jake Zabka (Algona) won by fall over Birri (Fall 3:13). 3rd Place Match-Skyler Wright (Osage) won by fall over Birri (Fall 3:50). 113-Kellen Moore (39-6) placed 1st and scored 22 team points. Quarterfinal-Moore received a bye. Semifinal-Moore won by fall over Garrett Tusler (Osage) (Fall 1:08). 1st Place Match-Moore won by decision over Max Currier (Clear Lake) (Dec 4-2).
