Guth and Bangert face off in state senate race

Republican incumbent Dennis Guth of Klemme is seeking his second term in the Iowa State Senate this fall, as he faces a challenge from Democrat Susan Bangert of Algona in the November 8 general election.

Guth, a farmer, says he's seeking reelection because he wants to defend our Constitution by promoting religious liberty and championing our Second Admendment rights. He also says he wants to defend the right to life, and he wants to reduce the size of government and eliminate red tape that hurts small businesses.

Bangert works as a speech language pathologist. She says she is running to make life better for her fellow Iowans. She wants to restore common sense to state government and work collaboratively with other lawmakers. She says she'll focus on bringing good paying jobs to Iowa and supporting education.
