Glenn William Mabus, age 95, of Lakota, died Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Lakota.

Glenn was born March 14, 1925, the son of William and Bertha (Gollnow) Mabus, on the family farm east of Lakota. In 1932 they moved to a farm 3 miles west of Lakota. Glenn attended country school and graduated in 1942 from Ledyard High School.

Glenn enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1946. Following his service in the Navy, he came back to Lakota to farm.

He was united in marriage to Vera Joan Heetland on Aug. 18, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lakota. Together they raised their family on the Mabus Family Farm and moved into town in 1977.

He is survived by his wife of almost 74 years, Joan Mabus of Lakota; children: Lyle (Mary) Mabus of Lakota, and Cecil Mabus of Nova Scotia, Canada; grandchildren: Brenda (Mark) Schilling and Bill (Julie) Mabus; great-grandchildren: Mitchell Schilling, Chelsey (Luke) Huber, Desiree Jorgensen, Dustin Jorgensen, and great-great-grandchild, Raegan Huber; sister-in-law Florence Paulsen; brother-in-law Gerald (Donna) Heetland; and many nieces and nephews.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents: William and Bertha Mabus and in-laws, Jerry and Leona Heetland.
