Gerald Jutting

Gerald G. “Jerry” Jutting, 75, went home to be with his eternal Father on Monday, February 12, 2024 at his home in Fruitland, Idaho after battling cancer for nine years. Per Jerry’s wishes, no funeral services are planned.

Jerry was born in Buffalo Center on June 18, 1948 to George and Stena Jutting, the youngest of seven children.

In 1995, while still in high school, Jerry moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Jerry completed his senior year at Phoenix Christian High School, where he met and later married the love of his life, Janet S. Hankins on September 1, 1967. He attended Phoenix College for one year and then began a career in banking as a paying teller, working in the cash vault at First National Bank of Arizona in Phoenix, where he went on to achieve great success in a 54 year banking career. After First National became First Interstate Bank and numerous postings throughout Arizona, Jerry and Janet and their family relocated to the Treasure Valley in 1961. In Idaho, Jerry went on to work for First Security, Wells Fargo, Home Federal, then transferring to McCall with Zion’s Bank and Idaho First Bank, where he finally retired in 2014 as a Vice President and Chief Credit Officer. He was a loyal employee, and most of his job changes were through bank mergers.

In his younger days, he enjoyed camping, dove hunting, golf, skiing, and many other outdoor activities. He also loved his family and watching his grandkids’ and great grandkids’ sporting events. He loved cars and had owned 64 of them throughout his lifetime. He wasn’t a collector of cars, just changed them frequently as his needs changed.

Throughout his career, Jerry gave back to his community by serving in numerous capacities in his church and civic organizations such as Kiwanis, Rotary International, and the Mercy Medical Center board in Nama.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet of Fruitland; son, Tony (Dana) Jutting of Branchport, NY and daughter, Jennifer Ford of New Plymouth, ID; five older siblings: Margaret Irons of Texas; Stella (Brian) Ainslie of Michigan; Howard Jutting of Iowa; David (Mary) Tiedens of Arizona; Roger (Bev) Jutting of Arizona; many nieces and nephews, five grandchildren: Tyler (Katie) Ford of Idaho; Ryan (Mariah) Jutting of Alaska; Sarah Newsom of Idaho; Shannan (Brady) Daniels of Arizona; Logan Jutting of NY; and nine great grandchildren.

He was an amazing man and will be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family would like to thank St. Luke’s Cancer Center in Fruitland and Heart and Home Hospice for their caring support.

Jerry regularly contributed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and MAF Mission Aviation Fellowship if you wish to make a donation in his name.
