Gassman talks education, budget shortfall and medical cannabis with local constituents

State Representative Tedd Gassman of Scarville was in Buffalo Center on Friday, March 24 to talk with constituents in his final local public forum of the 2017 legislative session. Topics for the day ranged from education and collective bargaining to the state budget shortfall and medical cannabis.

Gassman, who is a member of the education, local government, and environmental protection committees, opened the forum by talking about some bills he’s been working on. While the state didn’t have much new money for schools this year, Gassman said he’s looking to give schools more flexibility in how they can spend the money they do have. Some examples include combining funding for at risk students and dropout prevention and allowing more uses for professional development money.
