Find something unique at State Street Creations

Handmade creations by local crafters are the specialty of Buffalo Center’s newest downtown business, State Street Creations.

The new store is run by Amanda Heyer of Titonka, who has been crafting for about 10 years. The shop is located at 104 N. Main, the former site of BC Babies, which is between Special Looks and Weavers Leather Store.

Heyer specializes in making baby items, including include diaper cakes, burp rags, baby blankets and pillows.

Heyer says she got started crafting when she got pregnant with her first child, Lisa. “I bought way too many baby items,” she explained. She says she made a diaper cake to give to someone, and they suggested that she should try selling them. She liked the idea, and she started out selling her diaper cakes at smaller craft shows. She comes up with her own designs, but she also does custom orders, if people are looking for something specific.

Along with Heyer’s own items, State Street Creations sells things crafted by Kathy Wibben of Lakota, Jodie Huff of Algona, Cathy Kruse of Hayfield, Pam Alvested and Debra Powell of Terril, and Jo Drenner of Malvern. Some of the other products for sale include home décor, jewelry, handmade soaps and lotions, purses, tie blankets, doll clothes, Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones items, and seasonal wreathes. They also carry handmade cards for every season.
