Drill shows consequences of distracted driving

Local emergency responders conducted a drill at Bison Field last Thursday, Apr. 24, to serve as an educational opportunity for North Iowa High School students. The drill simulated the aftermath of a head-on crash between two vehicles, which demonstrated the devastating effect that distracted driving can have. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to dismantle one of the vehicles, in order to reach the three victims trapped inside. Fire crews responded from Buffalo Center and Rake, along with the ambulances from Buffalo Center, Rake and Thompson, the Buffalo Center Police Dept. and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Dept.
