Craig Heyes

Craig L. Heyes, 63, of Shakopee, MN passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Homestead Hospice in Owatonna, MN. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.

Craig was born in Buffalo Center on March 7, 1959, to Marvin and Beverly (Miller) Heyes. He graduated from Buffalo Center Community School District in 1977. Craig continued his education at Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute and graduated in 1978. Shortly after graduation, Craig accepted a job with Compu-Graphics in southern California, where he resided for many years and travelled extensively with his job.

In 1996, Craig was united in marriage to Linda S. Thompson. They later relocated to Merrimack, NH, where Craig was employed as an IT Analyst for most of his career, most recently with NE Associates. Craig resided in the New Hampshire area until August 2021, when he moved to Shakopee, MN to be closer to family.

While residing in California, Craig was a Los Angeles Lakers fan. But when he relocated to the Boston area, Craig adopted that area’s professional sports teams and enjoyed cheering on his favorites; the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed golfing and was an avid movie buff who would often quote lines from various movies in conversations to punctuate his point. Craig had a hearty laugh and an infectious personality.

Craig is survived by his mother, Beverly Heyes of Forest City; three brothers, Gary (Laurie) Heyes of Satellite Beach, FL; David (Paula) Heyes of Forest City; and Paul (Joan) Heyes of Savage, MN; his children by marriage, Amanda Rainer of Dover, NH and Adam Rainer of Palmdale, CA; two grandchildren, Dayton Tetley and Braiden Rainer. Three brothers-in-law: David Roussel (Ruthanne) of Beaverton, OR; Sonny Thompson (Mary) of Camano Island, WA; and Don Thompson of Shadow Hills, CA. Three sisters-in-law: Gloria Peacock of Sioux City, Nancy Kaffer of West Lake Village, CA, and Pat Thompson of Tehachpi, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Craig was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his father, Marvin Heyes; and two nephews by marriage, Jason Thompson and John Strange.
