City pursues lift for wading pool

The Buffalo Center City Council believes it has found an affordable solution to make the wading pool at the BC swimming pool handicap accessible. The council met with Jim Kelly from Pool Tech during its December 12 meeting, and Kelly says an ADA compliant pool lift can be installed for about $30,000.

The City has been looking to make the pool handicap accessible since community members began fundraising efforts for the project in 2015. The City’s plan had been to add a zero-depth entry slope to the pool to allow for easy access, and they originally had Matt Duve draw up plans for the project with an estimated cost of $70,000. However, the City had difficulty getting those plans approved by the state, so they turned to Pool Tech to engineer the project.
