City identifies risks for updated Hazard Mitigation Plan

Severe weather and traffic accidents are among the primary threats to property in Buffalo Center, according to a risk assessment conducted by the Buffalo Center City Council.

Andy Buffington, of the Winnebago/ Hancock Emergency Management Agency, met with the city council at its April 12 meeting to go over a list of potential risks to update the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, which is done every five years. He went over hazards such as weather events, disease, drought and earthquakes and had the council rate each item on its probability,severity, warning time and duration.
