Board sets timeline for superintendent search

North Iowa Community School will seek applications for a new superintendent until April 16, as it seeks to fill the position by July 1. Current superintendent Cory Myer will leave North Iowa on June 30, as he goes to the Sheldon school district.

The North Iowa School Board met last Monday with Dale Monroe from Ray and Associates, Inc., which is the search firm they hired to aid in the hiring process. Monroe’s goals for the meeting included determining the qualifications for the position and setting a timeline for the hiring process.

Monroe recommended allowing six weeks to collect applications, but the board decided on an April 16 deadline due to concern that candidates may accept other jobs if they take too long with the hiring process. Monroe said his goal is to get around 25 to 30 applications, and his company will screen that down to about ten candidates for the board to review at an April 23 meeting.
