Blizzard closes schools and businesses

There weren’t many signs that an early spring might be on the way on Groundhog Day last Tuesday, Feb. 2, when a blizzard shut down travel and brought about half a foot of new snow to our area. There wasn’t much activity on Main Street in Buffalo Center, where a number of businesses were closed. North Iowa and many other schools were closed both Tuesday and Wednesday, as people dug out from the storm.

School was canceled again this Monday, Feb. 8, when high winds once again resulted in blizzard conditions.

Punxsutawney Phil is calling for an early spring, however, as he did not see his shadow last Tuesday.
