Bison win blowout at Clarksville

The North Iowa Bison commanded the field last Friday night at Clarksville, where they dominated the Indians in a 78-14 victory to improve their district record to 2-1.

The game was practically over after just one quarter, as the Bison scored five touchdowns in the first and six extra points to lead Clarksville 36-8. Spencer Armstrong led off the scoring for North Iowa with a 65-yard touchdown run. Armstrong ran in another touchdown from 17 yards, followed by two touchdown runs by Jacob Koppen – including one for 76 yards. Austin Haisman caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Armstrong for the Bison’s last touchdown of the quarter. Koppen had two successful PAT runs in the first, and Armstrong completed a two-point conversion pass to Hunter Gelhaus. Clarksville made up some ground at the end of the first with a touchdown run by Dakota Garretson and a PAT run by Riley Cramer.

The Bison continued to be relentless in the second quarter, as Alex Paulson scored on a six-yard run in his first game back from a knee injury. Armstrong scored three more touchdowns in the second, including a 53-yard run, and Paulson and Koppen each had a successful PAT run in the quarter. Clarksville’s Tanner Gilbert scored on a 65-yard kickoff return for what would be the Indians’ final points of the contest.
