Bison receive All-District football honors

     Five North Iowa Bison received First Team All-District honors for the 2014 football season, while one more received Honorable Mention.

     Bison players named to the First Team All-District Offense include tight end Austin Paden, offensive lineman Hunter Gelhaus and offensive back Spencer Armstrong.

     Paden, a senior, led North Iowa in receptions this season with 15 for a total of 202 yards and two touchdowns. He was also third in rushing with 73 carries for 407 yards and five touchdowns.

     Gelhaus, a junior, scored 15 PAT points for the Bison this season. He made 45 kickoffs, totaling 1,760 yards. He was second on the team in tackles with 23 solos and 56 assists.

     Armstrong, a sophomore, led his team in scoring with 20 touchdowns and 108 points. He led in passing with 31 completions on 76 attempts for a total of 407 yards. He was second in rushing with 99 attempts for 740 yards. He also had two interceptions.

     Players named to the First Team All-District Defense were defensive utility Josh Mathahs and defensive lineman Alex Paulson.

     Mathahs, a senior, led North Iowa in tackles this season with 24 solos, 63 assists and five sacks. He punted 29 times for the Bison, totaling 884 yards.

     Paulson, a sophomore, recorded the third highest tackle count on his team with 26 solos and 45 assists. He also led the Bison in rushing with 211 attempts for 971 yards and 12 touchdowns.

     Junior Steven Milbrandt received All-District Honorable Mention. He had six solo tackles and 32 assists for North Iowa.
