Bison fall to Eagles in district opener

The North Iowa Bison faced West Hancock for the third time this season last Tuesday, as they headed to Britt for the opening round of the Class 1A District 5 baseball tournament. The Eagles came on strong and put together four runs in each of the top two innings, as they put the Bison out of the post-season tournament, 11-0.

“West Hancock got into a very big hitting groove right at the start of the first inning,” said North Iowa Head Coach Blake Baker. “The Bison bats were present, but we lacked consistency down the stretch and weren’t able to get a streak going and score runners. However, this was the first game of the season that the Bison fielders didn’t have an error. If we can start next year where we left off this year, or maybe if we can progress a little bit in pitching and batting in the off-season, we will be a stampede to be concerned about next year.”

Hunter Gelhaus led the Bison with two hits for the night, while Noah Paulson, Spencer Armstrong, Drew Jensen, Steven Milbrandt and Jordan Boekelman had one each.
