Bison add a win but lose three games

The North Iowa Bison went into extra innings as they opened their week on the baseball diamond last Tuesday, June 18 against Bishop Garrigan. The Bison and Golden Bears were tied 8-8 after seven innings during the contest in Buffalo Center. Garrigan opened up a lead with four runs in the eighth inning, while the Bison were only able to bring home one more runner, resulting in a 9-12 loss.

“Hayden Meinders did well in his first varsity pitching start, and Hunter Meinders and Kade Hobbs pitched well in relief,” said Head Coach Zach Meinders. “We hit the ball well but not quite as good as Garrigan.”

Kade Hobbs had two doubles and four RBIs for North Iowa, and Logan Sabin had two hits and one RBI. Hayden Meinders struck out four batters while giving up five hits and four earned runs during his five innings on the mound.
