Beverly Anderson
Beverly Ann Anderson, 87, of Rake, died March 10, at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, Ia. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 1, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. A committal service will be conducted at East Lutheran Cemetery in Rake.
Beverly Ann, daughter of Rolf and Unice (Njoes) Amundson, was born on a farm in rural Frost, Minn. She was raised and educated there, graduating from Frost H.S. in 1954. She was united in marriage with Dale Anderson March 27, 1955, at United Lutheran Church in Frost. The couple lived and farmed near Rake, where they raised their two sons. Beverly helped work on the farm, tended a garden, and made home cooked meals for her family. She provided childcare out of her home for several years and worked at the Rake Library. Beverly and Dale belonged to the Rake Rocking R’s dance club and traveled to square dances all around the Midwest. They were also faithful members of Zion Lutheran Church in Rake. Beverly belonged to the church quilting group, helping make quilts and donating them to those in need. She was also a member of the coffee and exercise group in Rake and traveled with her friends to nearby towns for lunch. She loved to feed wild birds and continued to do so until she was unable.
Survivors include her sons Rick (Terry) Anderson of Mount Vernon, Ia. and Kenneth (Donna) Anderson of Columbus, Neb.; grandsons Jacob Anderson and Taylor Anderson; step grandchildren Cody Flanagan and Misty (Jason) Hassenstab; and step great grandchildren Logan Mueller and Adaline Hassenstab. Also surviving are Beverly’s brothers Willard (Mary) Amundson of Blue Earth, Minn., and Kermit Amundson of Frost; sister-in-law Joyce Anderson of Rake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband of more than 40 years, Dale, parents-in-law Archie and Etta Anderson, brothers-in-law Ronald Anderson and Carlisle (LaRene) Anderson, and sisters-in-law Mavis (Warren) Rasmussen and Elaine (Dale) Nerdig.
