Baseball season comes to a close

The North Iowa Bison entered District tournament play on Wednesday, July 15 at Belmond, where they played against the B-K Broncos. The Bison opened the game with a hit by Hunter Gelhaus in the first. Alex Paulson was up next and drew a walk, but both runners were left stranded on base.

The Broncos, meanwhile, scored three runs during their first opportunity at bat, and they tacked on another run in the second inning. Steven Milbrandt was the only Bison to get on base in the second with a walk.

Spencer Armstrong hit a double in the third but was left on base. Belmond didn’t score either in the third, but the Broncos came on strong in the fourth and fifth, scoring three runs in each of those innings while the Bison managed just one more hit by Armstrong. The game ended after the fifth with the Broncos up, 10-0.

Armstrong was 2-3 at the plate with a double, and Gelhaus had a single. Drew Jensen struck out two batters for the night, and Noah Paulson struck out one.
