Assisted living construction set for spring

Timely Mission Nursing Home is still on track to build an assisted living facility, following a delay of several months. Stephanie Morris, administrator of the nursing home, gave the Buffalo Center City Council an update on the project during last Wednesday’s council meeting.

Morris explained that Timely Mission is using a loan from the USDA to help pay for the project, and things got pushed back due to USDA requirements. Morris said they had to redo the architectural plans for the facility after the USDA told them they wouldn’t be able to use the same company for the architecture and construction. Timely Mission had originally hoped to open the assisted living facility this fall.

Now, Morris says they have new plans drawn up, and they hope to break ground on the facility in the spring. She says the building will be connected to the nursing home and will be located just south of the home, where an existing apartment building will be demolished.

She says the assisted living facility will include nine double-occupancy apartments, and each will include a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchenette. Residents will enjoy three full meals a day, medication management, activities, a spa room, and housekeeping. Additional services, such as help dressing and bathing, will also be available.

Morris says they expect construction to take about a year.
