Artist series continues at library with local wood carver

Jim Meyering of rural Woden is the next artist to be featured in the Buffalo Center Public Library’s local artist series.

Meyering has been doing woodcarvings since 1986, and he estimates that he’s completed upwards of 300 carvings. A number of those carvings will be on display at the library, and the public is invited to visit with Meyering at an artist reception next Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the library from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.

Meyering is a member of the North Iowa Woodcarvers Guild based in Titonka, and he’s also a part of the Rio Grande Valley Woodcarvers in Texas. Meyering carves all sorts of different projects, and he’s always learning new things through various classes. He says he’s never sold one of his carvings. “I do it just for the fun of it,” said Meyering.
