Anderson takes new coaching job at Iowa Falls-Alden

The North Iowa Bison will need a new football coach this fall, as Head Coach Don Anderson has accepted a new position as head coach of the Iowa Falls-Alden football program.

Anderson is completing his second stint at North Iowa, as he previously taught and coached here in the ‘80s and ‘90s before returning to coach the Bison in 2010. IF-A made the announcement last Thursday that Anderson had accepted the position as head coach of the Cadets.

The move will bring Coach Anderson closer to home and closer to family. He is a native of Dows, which is about 20 miles from Iowa Falls.

“I am excited about the opportunity to coach 11-man again with 60-plus kids and playing three different levels – 9th, JV and varsity – but being the smallest 3A definitely presents some challenges,” said Coach Anderson. He doesn’t have a teaching position lined up in Iowa Falls like he’s enjoyed here, serving as the alternative school coordinator, so he’ll be looking for extra work.
